EXCLUSIVE on Hanavbara, the artists behind "Kpop as 90s Anime"!

One of our favorite artists recently is Hanavbara, who we found through Twitter, but also exists on Tumblr, Instagram and more!

Nineties nostalgia is definitely in, and Hanavbara has captured the eye of ifans with their series "Kpop as 90s Anime." Below is just one of their many adorable pieces, this one dramatizing a move from Red Velvet's "Be Natural." (gif source)

Hanavbara is actually a team of artists from Barcelona. We contacted them, and they were kind enough to give us some inside information on their faves, influences and art!
How long have you been drawing? What are your influences?
We are two sisters who have been drawing for as long as we can remember. We grew up watching 90's animes, so they became our biggest inspirations. Sailor Moon is our main influence ðŸ˜Š

90s anime art is distinctive for its shading, bushy hair and bold lines
I didn't realize you are sisters! That just adds to the cuteness of your art! I'm guessing you two get along well?
Yes, we are very close since we were kids!
What other animes are your favorites?
Other animes that we also love and inspired our drawings are Cardcaptor Sakura, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Doremi, etc.

Yellow subtitles were a vital part of the 90s anime experience
How did you get interested in Kpop?
We discovered Kpop 3 years ago through "Eyes Nose Lips" by Taeyang (what a beautiful song ðŸ˜ ), but we haven't been fully into it until 1 year ago more or less.
What are your favorite groups?
Our favorite groups are BTS and Loona! And we also absolutely love Red Belvet, Blackpink and Twice.

Do you have any future plans for your art?
We would like to make maybe kpop merchandise (like stickers or keychains), but we are still thinking about it. I don't know if people would be interested ðŸ˜… We also really like tv shows and some mangas, so when we have time we would definitely like to draw them ðŸ˜Š

Well I am very interested! Are you? Let Hanavbara know by following their TwitterTumblr or Instagram!!
