13 Spooky Kpop Videos to Watch This Halloween

1. Tiny-G - Miss You

Tiny-G proved they could pull off assonance as well as alliteration by coming back with"Pogopa." Why did we ever question them? "Pogopa", for some reason pronounced "Pogofa," meaning "Miss You" is a Halloween classic! Move over Monster Mash, "Miss You" is a whisper, a scream and a meow!

2. Sunmi - Full Moon

Not only a classic, but also one of the few songs on this list that was actually a hit! Featuring a supernatural love story, the song has been covered by too many times to count, including on Steven Universe. But Hallowe'n is the right time to watch the original, in all its leg spreading glory!

3. T-ara - Lovey-Dovey (Zombie Ver)

Back when T-ara was into feature length films, they released a dual version of Lovey-Dovey: one being the second part of their tragic"Cry Cry" minifilm and one about shuffling zombies. Is a story about repenting for the sins of a past life of organized crime, and this one about zombies related? No. Was it a hit? Yes!

4. Sunny Hill - Midnight Circus

When acoustic folk group Sunny Hill came back from years of oblivion, we did not expect a piece of creepy, jazz-influenced, pumping, golden pop perfection. As the description says, "The music video symbolically portrays the sadness and pain behind the eeriness and spectacles of the circus." Released in 2011, this supernatural tone predates VIXX. Girl groups always did it first and best, folks.

5. Ladies Code - Hate You

Even before "Galaxy" and "The Rain," Ladies Code always had a thread of otherworldliness in their brand, and this was their first release that really encapsulated that vibe. Also, it's never the wrong time to celebrate the everlasting works of EunB and Rise.

6. Laboum - What about me

"What about me" is not an official Hallowe'en concept, despite being released on same day. However, like "Hate You," it juxtaposes idols with dolls, giving creepy commentary on the lack of autonomy these women have on their own bodies, whether in a relationship or as public figures. I guess the patriarchy was the real devil all along

9. Lee Jung Hyun - V

Lee Jung Hyun is a first generation idol who came back in 2013 to fling this disturbingly cutesy song into the void, call us all fools, and then retreat back into her spaceship for another eternity. We are just grateful for any contact.

10. Queen B'Z - Bad

Featuring a young girl who makes new friends, gets her revenge, and a taste for blood, no it's not Jennifer's Body! Queen B'Z's "Bad" is one of those criminally underrated rookie songs that makes you angry just thinking about the injustice. But, not too angry to bop. Cut that lipstick girls! No excuses! Get in the robot!

9. Brave Girls - Rollin'

Critically acclaimed song "Rolling'" features a blood moon and colored contacts. Unfortunately, this video was too spooky for the public, and a New Version was released with less body rolls. But, we will always hear the distant cry of "Rollin'"'s thunder in Yujeong's smile...

10. Gain - Irreversible

"Irreversible" is far from a traditional Hallowe'en concept, but after Gain had her first win on October 31st, it became an instant Samhain tradition. The music video is another minifilm with a twisted story of love and crime. Gain is the original submissive barefoot queen, and, as always, she did it for the gays (Adam couple forever)

11. Twice - Like OOH-AHH

"Like OOH-AHH" uses zombies as a metaphor for the cliche, dull, consumerist-orientated life we all lead... or would lead, if we didn't have TWICE to cheer us on! The song is fun, confidant and just grungy enough to be edgy but still accepted by the public. After this, TWICE became the Queens of Halloween, releasing TT and, soon enough, Yes or Yes.

12. 4MINUTE - Volume Up

4MINUTE brought the sax back from the dimension where they never disbanded, and it turns out they are doing fine! "Volume Up" shook the world... and my car speakers. Sexy, classy, supernatural, blood hounds... what else is there?

13. Song Jieun - Bobby Doll

"Bobby Doll" is the third time Song Jieun came back in the autumn with a look into her twisted mind, and therefore the third time we signed our name in blood onto the contract! "Bobby Doll" was meant to be a b-side, until they realized it was too good to let die so easily. Well, they tried.

Not all of these are straight Hallowe'en songs, but I hope they got you in the spooky mood for a fun-filled October 31st. Enjoy!
